Another brilliant day was had by all at the seventh Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships on Sunday 10th March at Inveralmond Community High School in West Lothian. Pupils from over 130 schools took part in the event, which offers a range of competitions from quartets to pipe band performances.

The winner of the Debut category, which offers competition experience to schools that have no recent history of piping, was the Isle of Bute Schools. The winner of the innovative Freestyle category, which encourages pipers and other instrumentalists to play new compositions and arrangements, was Dollar Academy. Sanquhar and Upper Nithsdale were awarded the special Eilidh MacLeod Endeavour Award. The award recognises the wonderful values that youth pipe bands encourage such as team spirit, commitment and camaraderie.

The prizes were awarded on the day by Tom Kerr, West Lothian Provost, and David Johnston, SSPBC Convenor.
