Grant Awards and Instrument Loans for the year ended 31 March 2017

During the year ended 31 March 2017, a total of £335,505 was awarded by the Trustees towards tuition programmes.

 

ARGYLL & BUTE

Isle of Bute Schools

£20,000 over three years to Rothesay and District Pipe Band.

Towards piping and drumming tuition at Rothesay Academy and primary schools Rothesay, St Andrew’s and North Bute.

 

Isle of Tiree Schools

£7,466 over three years to the Tiree Piping Society.

Towards piping tuition and tutor travel costs for 10 pupils at Tiree High School and Primary School.

 

EAST RENFREWSHIRE

Barrhead High School and cluster primary schools, East Renfrewshire

£27,400 over two years to East Renfrewshire Council.

Towards free piping and drumming tuition at Barrhead High School and primary schools Springhill and Auchenback, Carlibar, St Luke’s, St Mark’s and St John’s plus band practice at Carlibar primary school.

 

EAST LOTHIAN

Preston Lodge High School and cluster primary schools, East Lothian

£4,000 to the Preston Lodge Pipe Band Support Committee.

Towards the purchase of drums.

 

EDINBURGH

Pilrig Park School, Edinburgh

Up to £5,000 to the National Piping Centre.

Towards a pilot project to teach chanter and drums to 20 pupils with special needs.

 

Sounds Like Friday/ Saturday YMI programmes, Edinburgh

The loan of four sets of bagpipes to Youth Music Initiative, Edinburgh Council.

For primary school pupils learning to play at Broughton, Forrester, and Craigroyston High schools, and at Merchiston Castle School and Parkside Primary School.

 

Craiglockhart Primary School, Edinburgh

The loan of four sets of bagpipes to Craiglockhart Primary School Parents Association.

 

Firhill High School, Edinburgh

The loan of two sets of bagpipes.

 

Tynecastle High School and cluster primary schools

£63,400 over three years to the Tynecastle Youth Community Pipe Band Support Group.

Towards piping and drumming tuition for 80 pupils at Tynecastle High School and its feeder primary schools Balgreen, Stenhouse and Dalry.  The loan of up to 14 sets of bagpipes and a set of pipe band drums.

 

EILEAN SIAR

Lewis and Harris Schools

£15,000 over three years to Lewis and Harris Youth Pipe Band.

Towards drumming workshops for bass, tenor and snare, and Skype lessons.

 

HIGHLAND

Ullapool and District Schools

£25,600 over two years to the Ullapool and District Pipe Band.

Towards drumming tuition at Gairloch High School, Ullapool High School, and primary schools Lochinver, Achiltibuie, Ullapool, Bualnaluib (Aultbea), Poolewe, Gairloch, plus pipe band practice.

 

Isle of Skye Schools

£16,320 over three years to the Skye Youth Pipe Band

Towards snare and tenor drumming tuition for over 50 pupils at Portree High School and feeder primary schools McDairmid and Portree, plus pipe band workshops for pupils from across Skye.

 

NORTH AYRSHIRE

Piping and Drumming Workshop

£700 to North Ayrshire Council towards a one-day piping and drumming workshop.

 

Garnock Valley Schools

£60,000 over three years to Garnock Valley Pipes and Drums.

Towards pipe band tuition for 150 pupils in Garnock Community Campus Secondary and its feeder primary schools: Garnock Community Campus, Dalry, Moorpark, Beith and Gateside.

 

Isle of Arran Schools

£30,000 over three years to the Isle of Arran Schools Pipes and Drums committee.

Towards drumming and piping tuition in Arran High School and seven feeder primary schools.

 

PERTH & KINROSS

Crieff High School and cluster schools, Perth & Kinross

£5,000 for one year to Crieff High School Pipe Band

Towards piping and drumming tuition at Crieff High School and five feeder primary schools.

 

Perth City and Highland Schools, Perth & Kinross

Four sets of bagpipes on loan for two years to the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band.

 

RENFREWSHIRE

Renfrewshire Schools

£17,719.63 over two years to Renfrewshire Council.

Towards piping and drumming tuition in Linwood High School, Johnstone High School and St Benedict’s High School and feeder primary schools.

 

STIRLING

McLaren High School and cluster schools, Stirling

£19,899 over three years to McLaren High School Pipe Band.

Towards drumming and piping tuition and pipe band workshops for 24 secondary school pupils and primary school pupils.
