The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust is the national charity that encourages piping and drumming tuition in state schools, and that supports schools pipe bands and music making with other instruments. The Trust supports paid year-long piping and drumming internships for people who want to work in schools as tutors. The internships provide opportunities to gain qualifications, to learn how to teach in schools settings, and how to organise and run a school pipe band programme, under the guidance of experienced schools instrumental tutors.

The Trust is offering one paid internship for a snare drummer at Preston Lodge High School in East Lothian starting from August 2020. We may be able to organise more piping and snare drumming internships at other locations, depending on the location of applicants and whether there are suitable programmes we can match them to. The roles will be tailored individually but we expect a baseline of qualifications and experience from applicants.
