Young people in Scotland can work towards a wide range of music qualifications and structured learning pathways, from early‑years programmes through to specialist pre‑professional training.
Piping and drumming offers a number of routes to gather qualifications and gain academic recognition for your achievements both in school and through afterschool programmes.
You will find more information on gaining qualification in this section.
The Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board (PDQB) is the certificating body for a range of certifications.
Qualifications are currently available in Piping, in Pipe Band Drumming and in teaching these instruments.
Weather you are a young person looking to gain credit for your musicianship or confident player looking to take the next step into teaching there is a qualification for you.
Often pogrammes linked to schools will teach piping and drumming as a hobby. Taking the additional step of offering structured and accredited learning assessments can seem complicated however, it is an extremely worthwhile part of the journey for young people.
If you would like to talk to someone about offering qualifications through your programme you can call the office to talk to one of the team on 0131 501 8384 or drop us an email.
