Performance Opportunity

Join us at the inaugural Scottish Schools Pipes and Trad Music Fest! Taking place the week commencing 10th June, in central Edinburgh, this is a new performance opportunity for young musicians to showcase their skills to the public. An open air stage on the popular Mound precinct next to the National Galleries of Scotland, offering 30 minute performance slots for pipes, ceilidh and trad bands where the performers are of school age.

Larkhall Youth Pipes and Drums

 

An exciting opportunity for a piping tutor to join a progressive, energetic, evolving team working with Larkhall Youth Pipes and Drums in South Lanarkshire.

Larkhall Youth Pipes and Drums are seeking a Piping Tutor to deliver lessons to pupils of Larkhall and the surrounding area throughout term time. This is a role will be fulfilled on a self-employed basis reporting to an organising committee. Must be able to teach to SCQF Level 6 with knowledge of PDQB and Curriculum for Excellence, have experience of teaching young people of varying ages in groups as well as one to one, and experience of running a pipe band. Must have public indemnity insurance and be registered with Disclosure Scotland (the latter can be arranged).

 

Must know how to engage, retain, and inspire young people, support their progress, and be ambitious for all that a school pipe band can bring to young people and the community.

 

Larkhall Youth Pipes and Drums (LYPD) tuition and pipe band programme started in 2019.  It is supported by the LYPD committee, Larkhall Academy, the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust, and the associated primary schools.

The National Piping Centre

 

The National Piping Centre Youth and Communities team are seeking up to four NPC Piping Club Tutors to deliver our Weekend and After-school Piping Clubs in 2024.

This role is for piping tutors with an interest in working with children and young people to engage in high-quality music-making sessions to develop their piping skills. This call is targeted towards recent music graduates, current music students or those with relevant experience in performance/ teaching Piping.

Each successful applicant will be provided with appropriate training for the role, and gain real-world professional development opportunities throughout the project.

The deadline to apply is 12 noon (BST) on Wednesday 8th May 2024.
