Moray Schools Pipes and Drums Tuition Scheme

An opportunity has arisen for a pipe band snare drumming tutor to teach during the school day in Forres Academy alongside its associated Primary School group and Elgin Primary Schools.

The role is to deliver high quality pipe band snare drumming tuition to support pupils on their learning journey with the aim to develop a performing school’s pipe and drum corps.

The roles of the tutors are on a self-employed basis.

Due to current demand, approximately 2 days work teaching in groups travelling around the Forres area schools and 1 days work in the Elgin Primary School area. The number of pupils has the potential to expand based on demand and uptake.

Specifications:

Tutors must have the required skills to support pupils from beginners through to the SQA requirements.

Experience of working with pupils of all abilities from the age from Primary 5 upwards is desirable.

Applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland Check.

Strathmore Schools Pipe Band

We are recruiting! 

The Strathmore Schools Pipe Band Committee is seeking to recruit a Bagpipe Instructor and Tenor and Bass Drum Instructor to develop an high-performing pipe band within the Blairgowrie and District Community Schools area. The roles both involve delivering engaging and inclusive lessons, facilitating band practices, and organizing performances. The instructors will be key figures in the growth and success of the pipe band, supporting students from P5 to P6. The programme is managed by the Strathmore Schools Pipe Band Committee, which is a constituted voluntary organisation. The post-holders will report to the committee.

 

Lessons for both post holders will take place in-person, at schools within the Blairgowrie and District area, and will consist of groups of 3 – 7 pupils, from Primary 5 and up.

 

The Bagpipe Instructor will be required to work 2 days per week, run an evening pipe band practice, and attend competitions and events as required.

The Tenor and Bass Drum Instructor will be required to work a Tuesday afternoon, and help run the Tuesday evening pipe band practice, and attend competitions and events as required.

Start Date: The post-holders will be required to begin teaching by 21/10/2024.
