When it comes to fundraising activities, the world is your oyster!
Just remember that in order to complete the award you will need to do the following:
Some fundraising inspiration
There’s lots of inspiration out there – we put together a downloadable A – Z list to give you some ideas to get started!
Busking is one of your key tasks which you must do to Earn Your Pipes, so we’ve included some helpful information below.
Busking is a useful way of raising funds, and for the award you’ll need to do it at least once, either solo or in a group.
Location is key – You might want to consider major events locally or nationally. A good example is the Edinburgh Festival but there are many music festivals across the summer during which you could play, for example at HebCelt or Celtic Connections. Busking at popular tourist spots like ferry terminals or popular viewpoints or in a town centre on a busy day can also work well. You don’t need a licence to busk in Scotland in a public place. You should ask permission to busk on private company premises such as outside a supermarket.
Buskers often use an electronic card reader and QR code now, so that passers by can tip you with their bank card, as well as giving cash donations.
Some information about card readers for busking is here:

Code of Conduct – There is a general code of conduct you should consider when busking, which will help keep you safe and ensure you have a positive experience.
The Glasgow City Council code of conduct is a good example, and can be downloaded here.
You should always discuss and agree your plans for busking with your adult Guide and have a trusted adult present when you are performing.
